Russian Federal Nuclear Center - The All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC - VNIIEF) - is a Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) of the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”. The Institute was founded in 1946 to implement the Soviet Atomic Project. The first Soviet atomic and H-bombs were developed here.

Today, FSUE RFNC - VNIIEF is the largest research and development institution in Russia that successfully handles defense, science and national economy problems. Safety and reliability of the Russian nuclear stockpile was and remains to be the RFNC - VNIIEF's primary mission.

There are several institutes within the RFNC - VNIIEF: Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics, Institute of Experimental Gas Dynamics and Detonation Physics, Institute of Nuclear and Radiation Physics, Research Institute of Laser Physics, Research Center of High Energy Density and Beam Physics, with Design Bureaus and other programmatic divisions as well - all directed by the general scientific and administrative management.

RFNC-VNIIEF was awarded with one silver and two golden medals at the exhibition in Brussels for the authentic development efforts.

The delegation from RFNC-VNIIEF took part in the 60-th World Exhibition of Innovative Scientific Developments and Technologies “Brussels – Innova/Eureca”.
The exhibition is the world-recognized platform for demonstration of the contemporary innovative efforts in science and technology, also promoting their optional commercialization methods.
The 60-th Show was attended by 75 participants from 13 countries and was organized under the auspices of the King of Belgium and the financial assistance of the Ministry of Economy of the region Brussels-the capital and the Belgium House of Inventors. The events of the official and business programs of the Show were attended by the representatives of the European business and political communities, the European Commission included.
The technologies developed by the Nuclear Center were certified by the international jury. Special attention was given to the novelty and originality of technical solutions, as well as to their practical implementation and legal protection of the newly-developed technologies.
The golden medals and diplomas were awarded for the design of the “Electronic seal” (R.M. Samigulin, S.V. Blagin, V.V. Angilopov) and “The Facility to extract foreign objects from channels” (developed by S.A. Krayukhin, N.V. Lapichev, G.P. Shlyapnikov).
The silver medal and diploma for the technological development was awarded to the project “Semi-products and complementary parts with nano-structure for constructional applications” (developed by A. Smolyakov).
The following developments were awarded with Rospatent diplomas: “Electronic seal” and “The Facility to extract foreign objects from channels”.
Above all, the “Electron seal” device was awarded with a special prize of the Shaw and the diploma established by the International Organization for Business Development Eurobusiness-Haller (Poland).

On the 15 of November, 2011, the delegations from OJSC “KAMAZ” and the Ministry of Education and Science visited RFNC-VNIIEF.
The delegations met with the representatives of RFNC- VNIIEF to summarize the current stage of the project dealing with super-computers and grid technologies and to resume the next stage of the project pursued in cooperation with the automotive industry.
General Director of “KAMAZ” Sergey Anatolievich Kogogin said, as he commented on collaboration with the Federal Nuclear Center: “We have chosen the correct partner. There is nothing more important for us than the result. Thanks to this partnership we have attained the design parameters that we were exactly looking for. Judging by the results yet achieved we can say, that in the designing field we have left behind all of our basic competitors. This is the place, where people are capable to work and to find brand new solutions”.
The supervisors from the Ministry of Education and Science emphasized, that the activities under the project proceed ahead of the schedule and the resulting products are highly demanded by tangible industrial companies. That is why the project will be further developed with all the associated changes, proposed by the Commission for modernization under the auspices of the President of RF, inserted.
At the final stage of the visit the Agreement for cooperation and the Annual Schedule for the next year were signed by the parties.

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Anatoly Serdyukov visited the Russian Federal Nuclear Center on 21 October, 2011. In the course of his journey the Minister visited the Scientific-Methodological Center of RFNC-VNIIEF and the Institute of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, and was familiarized with the present-day state of activities as far as the basic subject matter pursued by the nuclear center goes. The Minister met with the top managers of the center: the Director of the Institute of Laser Physics (ILFI) Sergey Garanin, the First Deputy Director of RFNC-VNIIEF and the Director of ITMF Vyacheslav Soloviev, the First Deputy Director of ITMF Rashit Shagaliev.
Before he leaved the center, Anatoly Serdyukov laid the bunch of flowers on the monument of Yuly Khariton and talked with mass media representatives. As he pointed out, “the trends and the developments, the nuclear center is pursuing, are satisfying and encouraging. Having just familiarized with the new technologies, we instantly know how to implement them. With our efforts combined we are capable to solve the problems, the government is tasking for the Armed Forces.”
The Director of VNIIEF Valentin Kostyukov underlined: “We see the Ministry of Defense as the exigent customer, capable to assimilate the new principles governing weapon development process”.
