One of the most advanced and promising conversion projects is the development, manufacture and sales of perforating equipment (PE) designed for perforation of oil and gas wells to increase their reservoir performance. RFNC - VNIIEF is producing the following variety of PE: capsule-type guns with retrievable tape frame, expendable and recoverable tubing perforators, tubing perforators for directional and horizontal wells, and blasting hydromechanical heads for initiation of tubing perforators. New perforator designs are under development now that have no analogs in the world.

Shaped charges for the perforators are calculated by highly professional gas dynamics scientists having great experience in simulation of explosion phenomena, which helps achieve the best combination of charge properties. To increase the charge perforation depth and avoid a "slug" in the perforation channel, the shaped charge liner is made of composite material.

The VNIIEF perforators are remarkable for:

  • reliability and safety of shooting operations;
  • high penetrating ability and heat and pressure resistance;
  • reduced blast effect;
  • PE operation in any climatic environment;
  • possible use of cable-run guns and tubing perforators;
  • varied shot density;
  • no deformation of the casing or cement stone degradation.

The perforating equipment market is broad. It involves some Russian regions (Surgut, Ukhta, Murmansk, Saratov and others) and FSU (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan).
