The VIII Annual International Workshop "Supercomputing and Mathematical Simulation"

The VIII Annual International Workshop "Supercomputing and Mathematical Simulation" was held on 5-8 October, 2004. The scientists from Russia, USA and France made their presentations on the diverse topics of the applied mathematics and computerized technologies. In the environment of impetuous growth of productivity of computing systems and dramatic development of informational technologies of special importance are the activities related to more sophisticated methods of computerized simulation of diversified applied problems. To date the mathematical center of RFNC-VNIIEF is involved into development of both the novel methods of mathematical simulation, and the modern informational technologies.
The Workshop hosted about 300 specialists from 28 institutions of Russia, USA and France. Eighty six scientific presentations, including 22 poster reports, were made. The participants made special mention of the progress, that is made in mathematical simulation of different complicated processes using high-efficient computing systems, as well as in development of new methods of solution of the problems of mathematical physics; the active participation of the young generation of scientists was noted alongside with the high level of the reports presented.
